The Social Cognition On the Line (SoCoOL) lab develops innovative, psychometrically grounded tools to assess social cognition across populations, with a particular focus on self–other distinction processes and their role in clinical conditions. Our research combines experimental tasks, questionnaires, ecological assessments, and advanced statistical modelling, with applications spanning autism, personality disorders, and transdiagnostic approaches.
Our work is supported by a diverse portfolio of competitive grants and collaborative funding schemes at national and international levels.
Major funded projects:
- WEAVE Project (≈ €1M; KU Leuven – University of Vienna – UCLouvain) with Pr. C. Lamm & Pr. P. Luyten
A large-scale international collaboration investigating self–other distinction in borderline personality disorder. This project integrates behavioural performance measures, ecological momentary assessment, stress induction paradigms, and neuroimaging to understand mechanisms underlying interpersonal dysfunction. - ARC Project – “Autism Profiles in Teens” (≈ €1.2M)with 3 other P.I.
An interdisciplinary program examining developmental trajectories of adolescents with autism without intellectual disability. The project focuses on how diagnosis, social cognition, and environmental factors predict adaptive functioning and autonomy. - M. Soreille’s charity Project (≈ €3.8M) with 6 other P.I.
A major interdisciplinary initiative aimed at improving the social inclusion of individuals with autism without intellectual disability. The project combines cognitive, clinical, sociological, and educational approaches, and includes the development and validation of new psychometric tools for social cognition. - OREKA Fund (≈ €200K) with Pr. M. Lahaye
Development of a mobile ecological laboratory equipped with embedded technologies, enabling in-situ assessment and support of young individuals with autism. This infrastructure allows access to underrepresented populations and enhances ecological validity.
Additional Funding & Research Support:
- FNRS PhD Fellowships – Alix Bigot
Supporting doctoral research within the lab, including work on transdiagnostic measures of social cognition and psychometric tool development. - Postdoctoral Funding (FSR) – Dr. Ekaterina Pronizius
Supporting advanced research on social cognition in clinical populations, including borderline personality disorder. - Scientific Events Funding (FNRS, FSR, etc.)
Multiple grants supporting the organization of international workshops and conferences on social cognition, psychometrics, and clinical applications.
